In man there are two natures; his spiritual or higher nature and his material or lower nature. In one he approaches God, in the other he lives for the world alone.
Signs of both these natures are to be found in men. In his material aspect he expresses untruth, cruelty and injustice; all these are the outcome of his lower nature. The attributes of his Divine nature are shown forth in love, mercy, kindness, truth and justice, one and all being expressions of his higher nature.
Every good habit, every noble quality belongs to man’s spiritual nature, whereas all his imperfections and sinful actions are born of his material nature. If a man’s Divine nature dominates his human nature, we have a saint.
Man has the power both to do good and to do evil; if his power for good predominates and his inclinations to do wrong are conquered, then man in truth may be called a saint.
If on the contrary, he rejects the things of God and allows his evil passions to conquer him, then he is no better than a mere animal.”
“Man’s destiny is self-made, not imposed upon him arbitrarily from without; his own powers, blinded by ignorance, spin and twist the cord that fetters him, as his own powers, directed by knowledge, liberate his limbs from the self-imposed shackles, and set him free from bondage.”
– Annie Besant ’Riddle of Life’
“THERE IS A BLATANT DENIAL OF THE SPIRITUAL ESSENCE OF MAN. THERE IS A BELIEF IN RELIGIONS AND A “GOD” IN HEAVEN BUT THERE IS NO CONFIDENCE IN THE POWER OF MAN HIMSELF.”
– Miss Allgood The orator
“Dependence on things, on people, or on ideas breeds fear; dependence arises from ignorance, from the lack of self-knowledge, from inward poverty; fear causes uncertainty of mind-heart, preventing communication and understanding. Through self-awareness we begin to discover and so comprehend the cause of fear, not only the superficial but the deep casual and accumulative fears.”
– J krishnamurti
Real trust is not what it is thought to be. Trust is not in people, places or things. Trust is in and of the self. This self is really the inward unseen self that is you. This trust is really self assurance. Trust is the self. Trust therefore does not exist outside of the self. One cannot look to another for validation or assurance. That is dependency which is what strengthens fear. If one was confident in the self one would see that one is strong and that which he puts his trust in is weak. I tell you… if all men rested their assurance in the inward self all needs in all relationships would be met. There would be no fear and no dependencies. Then perhaps true love would be discovered.
“THE BELIEF THAT ALL MEN HOLD IS THAT THEY CANNOT STAND ON THEIR OWN FEET. THEY BELIEVE THEY NEED THE SUPPORT OF THE EXTERNAL WORLD. THEY THINK THAT IF THE WORLD DOES NOT PROVIDE THEIR BODILY MATERIAL NEEDS THEY WILL PERISH. THIS IS THE REAL REASON WHY MEN DO NOT DEVELOP THE SPIRITUAL SELF. MEN ARE LAZY AND SECRETLY WANT TO DEPEND ON THE WORLD. THIS DEPENDENCY IS THE CAUSE OF FEAR AND LACK OF SELF CONFIDENCE. MEN WANT A WORLD THAT HOLDS THEM UP IN A FALSE GLORY SO THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE TO WORK ON THE INNER CHARACTER THAT IS THE REAL MAN.”
– MISS ALLGOOD THE ORATOR
There is an arrogance within the hearts of men. There is a belief that causes men to behold themselves in a false light. This false light is really a false perception that they are above others. No I do not mean as in race or class. (I’ll get into that later)
I speak of virtue. We think that we are good when we are really not. We think we are benevolent. We think we are compassionate. We think we are self less. This is the reason why man looks down on others because he thinks that he is virtuous. This is false because one cannot be virtuous if he looks down on others. The truth is that all men are equals. We all need each other. If a man is arrogant he perceives that he has no need of anyone or anything because arrogance causes men to be foolish, conceited and selfish.
Can you see this is what dwells in the hearts of men? Can you see that you look down on others because you exalt yourself?”
– Miss Allgood
"This is no magnificent deed, because I do not want followers, and I mean this. The moment you follow someone you cease to follow Truth. I am not concerned whether you pay attention to what I say or not. I want to do a certain thing in the world and I am going to do it with unwavering concentration. I am concerning myself with only one essential thing: to set man free. I desire to free him from all cages, from all fears, and not to found religions, new sects, nor to establish new theories and new philosophies."
- J. Krishnamurti
"From the dust of the hollow Earth came the hollow man and to dust he shall return."
